10 Ways my Life has Changed for the Better Since Going Keto

Feeling better on a ketogenic diet after all this timeI have been eating a high fat, low carb diet for a while now and have reached an amazing place where I feel good, I’ve lost the excess fat that I was carrying around and, most importantly, I am never, ever EVER on a diet!

I love the food I eat, and what’s more, sometimes I eat food from the non-keto list and it’s absolutely fine, I just hop straight back on the keto wagon afterwards.

I’ve been thinking about all the ways my life has changed for the better since I started this way of eating, and thought I’d outline my top 10 here.

I am More in Touch with My Emotions

When I was on the carb rollercoaster, I didn’t realise it, but so many of my emotions were just to do with sugar highs and sugar lows. Now my mood is stable, and when I feel something I know that it’s a genuine emotion rather than an imbalance in my body.

I have Lost Weight

I wear the same size clothes as I did before I had my 3 children (and put on 30lbs) which, I’ve gotta say, feels fantastic.


I No Longer Think About Food Every. Second. Of. The. Day

Seriously, food used to always be on my mind. Nowadays, it kind of doesn’t occur to me to think about food unless I am actually hungry. That’s a lot of free head space to think about other things!

I Sleep Like a Baby

Well, most of the time – I do have 3 kids! But when the boys were young I used to have lots of difficulties getting enough sleep, mostly because I would wake up in the middle of the night and not be able to get back to sleep. Or I would sleep the whole night through and still wake up tired (low-quality sleep). Now, most days I wake up refreshed and raring to go.

My Life is Simpler and Less Cluttered

This is kind of hard to explain, but by stabilising my health and my mood and eating choices, my entire life seems a lot simpler. I’m still super busy all the time, but I get a lot less overwhelmed by things.

I Just Feel Happy

I think this is a combination of improved health, balanced mood and better sleep, and then there’s this thing you get when you’re in ketosis which is kind of like a steady stream of joy. I have no idea what the physiological/chemical/biological explanation for this is, but it’s a feeling that’s recognised by anyone who has spent time in ketosis. It’s kind of like a surge of positivity that stays with you all the time.

I Can Keep Up with the Kids!

My 3 boys are so energetic, dancing, jumping, shouting and playing ALL the time. It used to wear me out, now I join in. 🙂

I’ve Started this Blog

Of course, I wouldn’t be writing this if I hadn’t experienced all that I have by eating keto. I’ve had quite a few emails from ladies asking questions and it’s an absolute pleasure to help them find their way with keto.

I Look Younger

I used to have pretty dark circles under my eyes, weigh a bunch more and have dry skin (with acne breakouts). Oh yeah. Saying goodbye to all these things has taken years off!

I Enjoy Clothes Shopping!

I used to love buying new clothes when I was younger, and then for about a decade when I was heavier and self-conscious about my weight and not feeling great, I stopped enjoying buying clothes. Now, it’s a pleasure again and I really like wearing things that I love as opposed to wearing things that might make me look slimmer or ‘less bad’.

So, those are my top 10 ways that my life has changed since embarking on a high fat, low carb diet. I wish you all the success with the keto diet too, so you can experience all these things and more!
